Billions to be spent preparing to walk away as talks continue to stall
Theresa May’s government is ramping up preparations for a No Deal with the EU, with billions set to be spent in 2018 if serious progress isn’t made in talks with the European Union.
A Treasury source told The Telegraph that: “Billions of pounds will be unlocked in the new year if progress has not been made. We have to plan for a No Deal.”
This is of course good common sense. The EU are refusing to move onto the next phase of negotiations, talks on trade, and the Article 50 2 year clock is ticking.
It is also become increasingly clear that some in Brussels seem hell-bent on demanding a huge cash payout and there is speculation that the whole negotiation is a farce being used to warn off other countries from attempting to leave the EU in the future.
No Deal will always be better than a bad deal and the government should make full preparations for walking away.
