Could the local election results be good for Brexit?

Could the local election results be good for Brexit? Boris Johnson took to Twitter to declare Jeremy Corbyn had been “abandoned in many leave areas” because of his pledge to stay in the Customs Union and The Telegraphreports Theresa May is being urged to make a clean break with the EU on the back of better-than-expected results. Even Matthew Parris, former Tory MP and die-hard Remainer, admits in his Times column the results were “bad news for Conservatives like me” and says they will “embolden” Brexiteer Tories. My colleague Hugh Bennett was on Sky News yesterday, where he warned that since 70% of Tory voters are now eurosceptic, the Government cannot afford to soften its stance since it would risk losing the support of those in Leave-backing areas like Dudley and Nuneaton where the party made advances at this week’s elections.Could the local election results be good for Brexit?
